Highland Games

If you are lucky enough to be staying at The Highland Club around the middle of July, there is a good chance the annual Inverness Highland Games will be on and we highly recommend a visit!

Staged in the unique setting of the World's oldest Highland Games Stadium, Northern Meeting Park, the Inverness Highland Games is one of the world's oldest and most famous Highland Games. First organised in 1822 by members of the Northern Meeting, the Inverness Highland Games features the very best in Highland Dancing, Pipe Bands, Traditional Music, Solo Piping and of course the giant traditional athletes who compete in the much loved Heavy Events. The Inverness Games also features the unique Inverness Stonemason's Stone Challenge which sees their very strongest competitors attempting to lift an 18st (252 pound) stone over a 5-foot bar. First contested in 1822, only 4 men have accomplished this feat in the modern era, although many have tried.
