Look for Nessie on Loch Ness

Loch Ness is home to Nessie and there are few creatures that have captured the imagination of the world but the Loch Ness monster is certainly one of them and has appeared throughout the history of the Highlands.

The very first recorded sighting was by Saint Columba in the 6th Century and the first book on the Loch Ness monster was published in March 1934. The Abbey Press of Fort Augustus which was based at what is now The Highland Club, published a pamphlet called 'The mysterious Monster of Loch Ness'.

Bring your binoculars and relax on a bench by the Monastery lawn and see if you too can spot Nessie....
