About the event

The Quest spans four captivating days, uniting individuals and organisations in a collective exploration to solve the mystery of Loch Ness and its elusive monster. Through a series of engaging events, you’ll search, debate, and delve into the mysteries that shroud this legendary loch.

This year marks the 90th anniversary since Sir Edward Mountain led the first organised search for Nessie, establishing themselves as the ‘Watchers of the Monster’. Seize this opportunity to take part in the ongoing quest to unravel the mysteries surrounding the legendary monster.

Documentary Screening of Loch Ness: They Created a Monster

Friday 31st May - 6pm to 9pm

Come join us for a special evening with an out of hours tour of the centre followed by an exclusive documentary screening of ‘Loch Ness: They Created a Monster’ followed by a Q&A session with director John MacClaverty.

Explore the darkly comedic tale of Nessie hunters from the 1970s and 1980s while enjoying a gin cocktail from our sponsor Great Glen Distillery.

Surface Watch

Saturday 1st June - 10am to 4pm

Join Loch Ness Exploration as a volunteer Nessie Hunter for a surface watch of Loch Ness, where you’ll assist in the ongoing quest to uncover the truth behind the legendary monster.

As part of the team, you’ll have the unique opportunity to scan the vast waters, observe any unusual activity, and contribute to valuable research efforts. Dive into the mystery and become an integral part of the search for Scotland’s most elusive inhabitant.

Hydrophone Discovery Cruise

Saturday 1st June - 10am & 11.30am

Embark on The Quest with us as we venture onto the legendary waters of Loch Ness alongside Deepscan Captain Alistair Matheson, the esteemed Skipper for the Loch Ness Project. For this extended discovery cruise you’ll be joined by renowned Nessie researcher Alan McKenna from Loch Ness Exploration for an excursion to experience the thrill of utilising a 60-foot hydrophone to listen for mysterious sounds echoing from the depths of the loch as we continue our search for the elusive creature.

Live Debate: Experts & Witnesses

Saturday 1st June - 6pm-9pm

Step into the heart of the mystery as we invite you to a dynamic live debate featuring Alan McKenna from Loch Ness Exploration, Roland Watson, a renowned Loch Ness writer, and eyewitness Richard White. Prepare to be captivated as they share gripping stories, discuss ongoing research, and dissect eyewitness accounts, all while passionately debating the existence of the elusive monster.

Participate in this debate either virtually or in-person at The Loch Ness Centre, the epicentre of the real Loch Ness story.
