ABOUT

Monster the Loch is the first mass participation boat race on Loch Ness. All human powered boat types are welcome to take on this epic challenge. All craft must be sea worthy as the weather and the Monster can be unpredictable.

The Loch is 21 miles long, 1 mile wide and who knows how deep!!

In 2024 we saw 120 crews and 450 competitors from all over the World, in boats of all shapes and sizes line up side by side on the start line ready to taken on Nessie!

The crews ranged from self built rowing boats, 18 man Dragon Boats to international rowers and kayakers.

The race will be run with the wind, the course will run from Dores or Fort Augustus.

The conditions this year were beautiful for 14 miles then the tailwind whipped up, which was good for the surfski contingent, as it created  a perfect downwinder!

The current record is held by The Great British 8+ who clocked a time of 2hrs 4mins and 57sec this broke the previous record by 22 minutes. The fastest Pedalo is a respectable 7hrs 19mins 35 seconds!

So no excuses, bring your boat and take on the mighty Loch!
