Loch Ness Cruise & Swim on a Midsummer Evening!
Loch Ness by Jacobite have donated a private chartered sailing to Urquhart Castle in support of Àban! Embark on this unique experience with our Loch Ness Cruise & Swim on the evening of Saturday 22nd June 2024. This promises to be a fantastic experience that combines the iconic waters of Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, and the challenge of open water swimming.
Tickets Event HighlightsMeeting Point at Dochgarroch: Park up and register before boarding the Jacobite Rebel along with your fellow swimmers. You'll have your wetsuit & swim kit packed up in a kit bag that you bring on board.
Outward Sailing approx. 5:30pm : Begin your scenic journey from Dochgarroch to Loch Ness, soaking in the views and the golden hour light with live commentary from expert guides.
Urquhart Bay Swim: You can get changed either on the boat, or under your dry robe. Disembark before a lovely gravel beach entry into the waters of Urquhart Bay for a one-hour swim. There will be a marked course allowing swimmers the flexibility to complete as many laps as they wish within the allotted time.
Timing Chips: Each swimmer will be equipped with SportIdent timing chips, assisting with our event management but timing your swim. This isn't a race, but it's fun to see how long you will take to complete your chosen distance.
Light Meal on Return Sailing: Following the swim, enjoy a well-deserved light meal from Grazey Days during the return sailing from Urquhart Bay to Dochgarroch. There will be entertainment and an on-board fundraiser in support of the RNLI Loch Ness lifeboat.
Ticket Cost£120.00 per ticket This event is open to a limited number of participants, with only 150 tickets available.
What Sets This Event Apart?All proceeds to charity: every penny raised from this event supports the community outdoor programmes run by Àban Outdoor (registered charity SC051413)
Exclusive access to Urquhart Castle grounds after hours: by special permission of Historic Environment Scotland, this is your unique chance to swim directly from the shores of Urquhart Castle. Please note that touring round the Castle & visitor centre itself is not permitted, and there wouldn't be time anyway!
Outward and Return Cruise: due to the generous support of Loch Ness by Jacobite, your ticket includes the return cruise aboard the Jacobite Rebel
Best chance of calm conditions: Loch Ness is exposed and large waves can develop over its 36km length. Urquhart Bay has been carefully selected as the most sheltered swim location on Loch Ness. A midsummer evening is the best bet for calm conditions on Loch Ness.
