Daniel from London
My girlfriend and I stayed in the church abbey here at the highland club. Its location is perfect, a lovely, secure, secluded abbey in the centre of a beautiful little village in Scotland, that has been built on the southern tip of the Loch Ness (and it is right at your door!). No more than a one minute walk you have a fantastic little restaurant and loch Ness tour cruises and ribs, a small selection of shops and a petrol station open until 21:00 every evening. Once you are done with Fort Augustus, there are so many attractions and places to visit that are short drives away… Fort William, Inverness, Isle of Skye and many more.
The abbey itself is incredible. Our room (abbey church room 17) exceeded our needs, and was just a pleasure to stay in. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the agency rep, and given an extensive tour of the facilities which included tennis courts, a bowls green, a little football pitch, an enormous chess outdoor thingy! a swimming pool with steam room/sauna, a games room which housed a full sized snooker table etc. Our agency also provided us with sport equipment ready to use any of these facilities! There are so many incredible points about the abbey, I could talk all day but the bottom line is it is just beautiful, even to walk around the building.
There is not enough space here to highlight all the wonderful things about our week long stay. We miss it already, wished we lived there, cant wait to go back, want all our friends and family to go with us, and for what we paid for the two of us for a week, we robbed them frankly. There are so many unbelievable sights to see in Scotland… If you love to travel, but have done very little in the UK itself, then look no further. As good as a sight seeing and unwinding holiday can get.
N.B. not one day of rain! In Scotland!!
