We are savouring the longest days of the year here at The Highland Club, with the evening light now lingering until near midnight, and it seems there is always some sporting activity or other to keep people outside and enjoying the grounds. Cricket season is in full swing, and the weekly fixtures provide the perfect excuse to do some laid back mingling and spend the day relaxing in the sun. Some of our more energetic guests, on the other hand, have been gripped by tennis fever, and can often be seen battling it out on the court well into the evening. And of course there’s the World Cup, with our expansive lawns proving an ideal training ground for budding young footballers to practice on between matches!
The Boathouse Restaurant, which has recently undergone a re-design, is now open under new, local operators. We hope that all residents and guests alike will soon be soaking up the inviting ambience there, which perfectly complements the stunning location and delicious seasonal produce on offer. Images, menus and further details can all be found on their website.
Our wonderful new Anta show apartment in The Monastery is open, and the beautiful wrought iron electric gates at the entrance to the development are in place.
The conversion of the Abbey Church is also coming along in leaps and bounds, and the swimming pool area, which will now include a gym in addition to the sauna and steam room, has taken shape. Furthermore, the cloisters have been extensively renovated, and are now back to their former glory.
Following the success of our on-site facilities both with residents and holiday guests, we are continuing to add features that go above and beyond the original design for the development; over the past year and a half these have included a purpose-built barbecue and seating area down by the loch side, a giant chess set in the Cloister Garden, a discreet woodland adventure playground, and a table tennis table, croquet lawn, badminton net and pétanque pitch out on the lawns. Most recently we have set up a loch-side telescope by The Boathouse restaurant - a handy tool for all keen Nessie spotters!
